Frequently Asked Questions

These are just some of the questions that we regularly get asked. If you can't see the answer you're looking for, just give us a call on 01234 984208 or fill out the contact form.

What happens during therapy sessions? During therapy sessions will be the opportunity for you to talk with your therapist about the issues which are worrying you. Your therapist will encourage you to be as open and honest as possible, and will help you to explore your emotions and thoughts. The therapist is not there to tell you what to do, or to give you their opinion or advice. They are there to listen and guide you with your own explorations. If you are working with a creative therapist, they may suggest some creative techniques which will get deeper into your issues. If you are working with a body therapist, they will encourage you to track your somatic experience.  How many sessions will I need?

All therapists at BodhiSpace will offer an initial assessment session. During the assessment you and your therapist will focus clearly on what you wish to achieve, and this will give you an idea of whether we are looking at short or longer term work. The length of time really depends on what your issues are. It is important to keep reviewing the work together so you know where you are going and whether the sessions are useful to you.

How much does it cost?

Initial clinical assessment is currently free of charge

BodhiSpace therapists charge different amounts. The range of charges is as follows:

Adult one-to-one sessions: £50.00 - £70.00 per 50 minute session
Children and young people sessions: £50.00 - £70.00 per 50 minute session
Low cost counselling sessions for adults: £20.00 per 50 minute session subject to clinical assessment

How long is a session?

Normally a session is 50 minutes

What about confidentiality?

Our sessions will be held in complete confidence. All BodhiSpace therapists work within the codes of ethics and practice of their governing body (The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy UKCP or The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP). They also have their own professional insurance and are registered with ICO for data protection.

What happens if you uncover other problems?

Discovering the underlying issues is what this is all about. There is no point fixing a symptom if the underlying cause isn't addressed. In this way we will be able to give you a long lasting solution. We will look at short term coping strategies to help along the way to a complete solution.
